We’re All In This Together Part 1

So, this week’s blog post is going to be a little different from before. See, I may seem like a workaholic…well…actually I am a workaholic. A functioning workaholic but I’m also a good friend and a supportive one, too. I have a great number of friends that took the path of the arts like me and, like me, have – and, forevermore, will –  dedicated their lives to the craft. It is because of that I am going to dedicate this month to highlighting them. This week, I’m going to be starting with the writers:

Dylan Birtolo is “a fiction writer, a game designer, a computer programmer, a hardcore gamer, and a professional sword swinger.” Yes, I know that’s a mouthful but he has earned every title. I met the bloke at the Origin Game Fair three years and I’ve been hooked on his Sheynan Trilogy series from the start. I have also had the pleasure of being Dylan’s better half, Jaym Gates. A truly marvelous science fiction writer with the same energy and wit as me and her silly counterpart. Kreshendo is one of my closest mates from high school who I had the privilege of graduating with. (266 for life!!!) Poetry is this man’s specialty and he knows how to bring out the rawest emotions out of his readers with precise and brilliant wordplay while exploring both universal and personal themes. Switching from high school to college, allow me to introduce you to another poet, Dave Matthes. Now, what makes his poetry so unique? The saucy honesty about his inner demons and personal journey which is something many of his readers find refreshing. Michael Zummo is the first writer from dwells in both of my community (LGBT and science fiction) and, because of it, got me reading a fantastic series revolving around the theme of identity and family (among other things). I got meet his bloke in Chicago at a comic book convention and been friends ever since. It also doesn’t hurt that he’s in the field of Game Design, like me. Finally, allow me to introduce you to the infamous pop psychologist, Travis Langley. He specializes in psychology (obviously) but fine tunes it towards various pop media such as Game of Thrones, Batman, Supernatural, Westworld.
