Yes, I’m still alive. Life is throwing so many curve balls at me that I’m having a hard time keeping up, sometimes. But I’m back with everything for China (click here for the post), document-wise, is really to go with my departure happening in January. But, before I go there, I need to make sure that I’m literarily set for my departure. How do I mean?
writing
So, recently, I have been working the splendid Dante Drackis in a literature project for the last two months. We’re also done and we’re hoping to get it released before the end of the summer. And, this time around, I actually have no equivocation about talking about what the book is about:
Sorry for the month of no blog posting. I’ve been so busy with various writing projects that I wanted to tackle and complete before I start my teaching job in China. Yes, that’s right, I’m going to be a TEFL teacher for the Chinese school system. It’s exciting and, honestly, I’m nervous as all holy hell. But because of that brilliant news, I had to do A LOT of planning and securing which meant that I didn’t have a lot of time to sit in front of my computer.
Killer by Nature by Jan Smith
In Shonda Rhimes’s Masterclass, she eloquently pointed out that one of the many great things about being a writer is that it’s the only job that no one has to hire you for. I love that because I noticed with Audible is that, quite literally, if done to a certain standard, anybody can create wonderful piece for the world to see – or hear – without much outside help. What also interesting to notice about my choice realm of art is the variety. Take Killer by Nature, for example. Up until this point, I never thought I would be able to listen to a “season” in an audiobook format.
Crown & Key series by Clay Griffith and Susan Griffith
Have you ever come across a book series that clearly can be adapted to the silver screen? Of course, you have and so have I. Now, have you ever come across a book series that leaves you wondering “why hasn’t it been, yet”? I’m sure you have and, now, so have I. I mean, it may consist of three books but there’s so much potential. The series is called Crown & Key and my goodness it’s marvelous.
Whatever You Say I Am: The Life and Times of Eminem by Anthony Bozza
(Disclaimer: this will be a short review!)
Hip Hop is a genre of music that I’m not a heavy listener of. It’s not that I hate. Far from it, actually. I just can’t relate to most of the artist of the genre and the message they’re trying to convey. Now, Eminem is one of the few hip hop artists I can proudly listen to. I mean…I do without the cussing but, you know, semantics. This was actually I was so excited to get started on his biography.
Einstein’s Dream by Alan Lightman
Being a nerd can be a little difficult in my sales job which why I’m thankful for my boss. My boss is just as big of a nerd as I am. Nooo, he’s the bigger one because he was the one who put this book in front of me. We love about the various field of nerdism and he suggested that I give this book a read. His reason was pretty simple: “It’s sci-fi, Justin. Right up your alley.”
Creative Writing Career 2 by Justin Sloan
If you want to read the first book I enjoyed by this author, just clicked here.
Much like the previous one, I reviewed, and the first book of the series, Justin Sloan interview different writers from different series. It’s quite literally the same formula as the first book.
Character and Archetype by Deren Hansen
Characters are the most important part of a story. They are the things that drive the plot along. Nay, they are the ones who actually start the plot. So, as one would imagine, that’s why I, among many other authors, put so much work on the characters alone. And that’s why I took a special interest in this book.
Kindle Self Publishing for Beginners by James Moore
(Disclaimer: this will be a short review)
I reeeeaaaally wished I had this book in 2017. Would have been better prepared with some of the important pieces of information that this book provided for me. I mean, seriously, this book was godsent.
