Yes, indeed, that is a fact. Being a writer has allowed me to forgo the rules, break from the norms, and challenge the minds. In this day and age, it’s practically a requirement. A writer must be able to understand the rules of life to represent it in their writing. More importantly, they must understand life’s rules to point out societal problems.
Just finished one of my major projects for my Linguistic Class and a thought occurred to me. In November 2022, I started my side-quest of getting my Master’s. Initially, it was supposed to be an MFA but my past laziness came back to haunt me. No worries, I’ll just get to it when I move to Spain – maybe I can learn at the same university I’ll teach at. Anyway, I’m getting sidetracked. I’m looking at my calendar and…I’m five classes and a final course away from finishing my Master’s!
This post is going to be short and brief because I’m trying to get as much work done (school and author) before heading back to Philadelphia for Chinese New Year. Just know that I’m excited and ready to see everybody. I also have to finish my pedagogical duties including talking to my students’ parents. Just one more week…

For this year, my goal is 150, and I’m already at 21. Given that I’m in school and teaching English, I will blast through this challenge.
It has been three weeks, and I am already tired. Yes! I’m three weeks into the new high school semester, and I can feel new gray hair growing. I should be annoyed about it, but it’s the opposite. I’m happy. Elated, even. I’m back with my students – old and new – and I’m teaching old and new material. But teaching isn’t the only thing that causes more gray hair to grow. A lot more, actually.
Well, since the first novel of my crimeverse was typed up and put away for a while, I’m now tasked with hiring models the professional and lengthy way. Yes! It will be my first time utilizing a professional website/service. Yes! It will be my first time being the only one who will be picking the models. Yes! I understand that the models have to be sexy and closely resemble the characters in my story. Yes! I’m fully aware that, if I pick wrong, the characters will not pop and my book series will be dead on arrival. Yes! I am clearly in a panic right now, but the book isn’t the only reason.
This day has become a special one for me. Despite all the chaos I had endured, I finished creating my midterms for my eighth graders, measuring the English Room, editing my students’ research paper projects, and decorating the board for the school’s Reading Month. Most of all, I finished typing out the first installment of my LGBTQ+ Crimeverse, and my chest is swollen with pride now!
This week has been uneventful. Not to say that nothing had happened because a lot had happened. Working with students is never boring and I love it that way. However, everything has been peaceful throughout the last two weeks…
I don’t have much of the update/blog post as I am just doing the same thing as always. Writing, teaching, rinse, repeat. It’s a comfortable process for me, but I’m never really comfortable with being comfortable. Lucky for me, I going to have a swift change to my routine come next month.
Next month is going to be a monetary hassle for two reasons: desktop and editor. Wait…maybe three. Could be four, if I’m counting correctly. Wait…maybe it’s three? You know what, I think it would be better to explain myself.
Holy crap…the last two week has been amazing and the paths that are opening up to me has made me smile from ear to ear. It’s amazing where you can find joy when you’re looking for it. Alas, I don’t want to hold all the good news to myself. Allow me to share it with you.
