Sorry for the month of no blog posting. I’ve been so busy with various writing projects that I wanted to tackle and complete before I start my teaching job in China. Yes, that’s right, I’m going to be a TEFL teacher for the Chinese school system. It’s exciting and, honestly, I’m nervous as all holy hell. But because of that brilliant news, I had to do A LOT of planning and securing which meant that I didn’t have a lot of time to sit in front of my computer.

The Picture of Dorian Gray: A Gay Novel by Mark A. Roeder
I have seen various adaptations of Oscar Wilde’s classic The Picture of Dorian Gray and have yet to read the original piece. Ironic really, skipping over the original to read the LGBT adaptation. But, nevertheless, I found it to be a great read. Moreover, I like how Mark A. Roeder keep to the original while adding a sexy LGBT twist to it.
Country Boys by Peter Styles
Cowboys is a bit cliche for me in the romance genre but it was recommended to me. Yeah, I still have a decent amount of research left to do so I’m still getting recommendations. This one is the most grounded and homey romance story I’ve ever read. You would think that would make it boring but you would be wrong.
Escape Artist by Romeo Alexander
Romeo Alexander is quite the gifted romance writer. He has a certain flair in the genre that I respect and can really make some interesting characters. If you don’t believe me, read my review on The Lucky Charm here. However, this time around, he decided to take a more…theatrical storyline to the same setting. Trust me…it’s really good.
I know I’ve said it numerous times on various posts but allow me to say this key feature about me: I’m gay. Yeah, I’m not so obvious in public at first glance because of how I present myself. But, if you ask me, I don’t have a problem with admitting it. Just not going to vocalize to every John, Dick & Sally that comes by. Yeah, to be blunt, I have this notion that if you’re meant to know they’ll tell you.
WTF Venice by Elaine Marie
You know, I never told anybody this: I really detest womanizers. It’s a personal annoyance that stems from the ripple effect that those repulsive tribe of people seems to leave behind. Plus, it’s the whole attitude behind the whole lot of them. Just arrogant wankers all around. So, it gives me great joy in seeing the table turns and for them to learn their lessons. Take Enrique from WTF Venice, for example…
Lucky Charm by Romeo Alexander
I’m starting to develop an affinity for LGBT Romance and erotica but it has to have some kind of story to it. Yes, I know that’s pretty lame but it’s me and can’t be helped. Don’t judge me. Haha! And, with most stories, I like a little suspension of disbelief. So, Lucky Charm is one of those books.
Dangerous Daddy series by Alex Anders
I was advised by a circle of friends that I need to start reading LGBTQ+ literature more frequently as a form of research since I will be release related content outside of my crime series. Then, funny enough, another circle of friends suggested reading erotica so I can work out the romance/sex scenes a little better. Actually, now that I’m writing this, I’m thinking that they had ulterior motives for that advice. Haha!
It’s something that’s getting really but, yet…never gets old. This whole week has been filled with liars and thieves getting punished for their crimes. Luck for me, I didn’t witness any of it but, rather, I was informed of the manner. One of the incidents made me laugh. Yeah, I laughed…I couldn’t help it. He had it coming. But the second one made me really sad. I do mean REALLY SAD!!!
This is going to be a rather short blog post…well…sort of. Sorry, it has been about two weeks since I posted but for good reasons. See, writing and teaching work hand-and-hand and I’m going to get the chance to do both whiles on the road. I will be going to China in July and I’m doing so much work in preparations. And I’m doing all of this while working on my short stories.
First, I had to get my TEFL certification which I completed without any problems. A 120 hrs course was completed in 50 hrs and the final assignment was done within a few hours. Yeah, that’s what I call hyperfocus. Lol
Next, I had to get my passport and, let me tell you, that process was harder than I expected. It took me a grand total of three weeks and two attempts to get it right. Because I didn’t have my birth certificate, social and new ID BEFORE I could even attempt the passport application. Oh, the two attempts, you ask? Well, I made the money order wrong and had to turn it into two money orders. Haha! Luckily, I got it wrong on the third try.
Now, I have to do a background and medical check. I’m never worried about these things. Since I’ve never committed a crime a day in my life (call it civil laziness) and I’ve never been in need of hospital care (knock on wood), this part of the process will be of great ease. Too bad I got to pay for the medical exam, myself. After…i have to stockpile on pants, jeans, and footwear since no other country might not have my size.
Finally, I might need another laptop. Small one. Something easy to transport and work on. Oh! And a messenger bag. Because I’ll be damned if I can’t write while I’m traveling and I will rather be comfortable while doing so. Besides…I’m almost done with the outlines for both short stories and crime series. I have great faith that you all will love what I have in store for you.
, please, don’t forget to follow me on my social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, and Goodreads) which are on the right side of my web page. Also, I do love hearing suggestions of what books to read outside of my norm (Science fiction and fantasy) as I am a part of the Goodreads’ reading challenge for 2019.
