The fact that I’m back to teaching is something that fills my heart with so much joy. I can’t tell you how much I love teaching. All of my colleagues spend Sunday at an expat bar (bar owned by a foreign) to talk about our first full week back. I couldn’t be happier. Especially since I have been granted the nickname of “Tónghuà lǎoshī” (童话老师) which means Fairy Teacher which I will take because I used a Spider-man baton as my “wand”. But there’s something else we wanted to talk about at the bar: What we were going to do for Pride?

Rather I’m meeting myself halfway. I took an extended break from my Short Stories Project because I managed to write twenty-two short stories before the beginning of May. Plus, I have been neglecting the other projects that I was working on. So, I took the first full and half week of May paying catchup. Now, I’m back to work on my Short Stories Project with a few updates on everything – both in and outside my life.
It’s coming, everyone. So many things are coming…and I couldn’t be happier!! Yes, I sound like a broken record but I just can’t help it. I’m too excited!! Just remember that you will be just as excited as I am when everything finally happens. I got four things coming that I’m trying to bring into the fold for the last month of 2019, and 2020 as a whole.
Two events are done and in the past but the memories are still in my heart. I got the honor of hanging out with two vast groups of friends from two very different – well, not so different – circles. But the inevitable rush of emotions that I got from it all was coming to the surface…I ended up crying my eyes out. Happy cries, of course, but still…
Yes, I’m still alive. Life is throwing so many curve balls at me that I’m having a hard time keeping up, sometimes. But I’m back with everything for China (click here for the post), document-wise, is really to go with my departure happening in January. But, before I go there, I need to make sure that I’m literarily set for my departure. How do I mean?
Working in the gayborhood offers me the opportunity to meet many people from many walks of life. It grants me the ability to learn about other countries and what’s going on there. This week, I got to meet a very handsome Lebanese man who just came out to Philadelphia – and out of the closet – for an exchange program. This weekend, I got to teach this hottie, the way of American Gay Life. No! Not in that way, you naughty minx. I went in a different direction. Side note, I can’t say his name because of the current climate in Lebanon regarding the LGBT+ community. Guess I can cross Lebanon off my list.
Happy Pride, everybody!!! It’s the one month we can look at the world and say see me, love me and accept me. I mean…I do it every day but not everybody is able to so it’s something we shouldn’t take for granted. So, let me be the first to tell you that if your city is having a Pride Parade and you’re either a member or ally of the LGBT community then BY GOD…GO TO IT!!! I will be there with my some of best Judies and I’m going to have a blast. However, there are some things I need to do before that happens.
So, recently, I have been working the splendid Dante Drackis in a literature project for the last two months. We’re also done and we’re hoping to get it released before the end of the summer. And, this time around, I actually have no equivocation about talking about what the book is about:
Philly Pride is coming and I can’t wait to finally be a part of it. See, in the past, I got to be apart of Columbus Pride and San Francisco but never my hometown Pride Parade. So, this is going to be my first Philly Pride and I’m SOOOO excited. No, I’m not going to wear any jockstraps or anything because that’s for home use. But there’s another reason why I’m excited…I mean really really excited!!!
